Privacy Policy

AnyDown is a video download utility. It accepts links that you paste, type, or share into the app, checks available formats through supported extraction tools, and saves selected downloads to your device. The app is designed to work primarily on-device, with optional diagnostics and user feedback used to improve reliability.

What We Collect or Process

Category Examples Purpose
Links you provide Pasted URLs, shared text links, browser-opened HTTP/HTTPS links To detect available formats, metadata, and downloadable media sources
Downloaded files Video files saved under Downloads/AnyDown To let you open, share, or delete downloads from the app
Imported account cookies A user-provided cookies.txt file, or cookies saved from AnyDown's own in-app WebView session To access non-DRM videos that your account is already allowed to view when you choose to enable this feature
App settings Cookie usage toggle, browser compatibility setting, custom user-agent, extractor update timestamp To remember your preferences and improve compatibility
Network requests Requests to linked pages, direct media URLs, official oEmbed metadata endpoints, and yt-dlp update endpoints To prepare downloads, retrieve metadata, discover fallback media, and update extraction support
Diagnostic reports App version, package name, device model, Android version, network type, error messages, warning details, crash stack traces, and the link involved in a failed download where needed To find, reproduce, and fix crashes, errors, failed downloads, and compatibility issues
User feedback Feedback text you submit, current app settings context, app version, device model, Android version, and the current link only when relevant To review closed-test and user feedback, prioritize fixes, and confirm production readiness
Advertising data Google Advertising ID, coarse device/app signals, ad impressions, ad interactions, reward completion, and consent status handled by Google's advertising and consent SDKs To show ads, prevent abuse, measure ad performance, and provide optional rewarded ad-free time

What We Do Not Collect

  • AnyDown does not require an AnyDown account.
  • AnyDown does not sell your personal data.
  • AnyDown does not read Chrome, Firefox, TikTok, Facebook, or other apps' private cookie stores.
  • AnyDown does not intentionally include saved cookies, passwords, account secrets, or authorization headers in diagnostic reports.
  • AnyDown does not intentionally collect DRM keys, protected playback secrets, or payment information.
  • AnyDown does not use advertising data to read your downloaded files or saved cookies.

How Data Is Stored

  • Downloaded videos are saved on your device in the public Downloads/AnyDown folder.
  • Temporary and partial download files may be created during downloads and cleaned up after failures or cancellations.
  • Imported cookies are stored in the app's private files area as a cookies.txt file used by the extraction tool.
  • Settings are stored locally using Android app preferences.
  • Diagnostic reports and feedback you submit are sent to XeroSoft Studio's server and stored in a diagnostics database so app problems can be reviewed and fixed.
  • Ad consent choices and temporary rewarded ad-free status may be stored locally by AnyDown and Google's consent SDK.

Third-Party Services and Tools

AnyDown uses yt-dlp through the youtubedl-android library, plus FFmpeg/aria2 components, to detect formats and perform downloads. When you submit a link, those tools may contact the linked website and related media or metadata hosts. AnyDown may also call public official oEmbed metadata endpoints for supported platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, and X/Twitter to show titles or provider context.

AnyDown uses Google AdMob and Google's User Messaging Platform to display ads, manage consent where required, and provide optional rewarded ad-free time. Google may process advertising identifiers, device information, approximate location inferred from network signals, app activity related to ads, diagnostics, and ad interaction events according to Google's advertising and privacy terms.

Permissions

  • Internet: required to inspect links, update extraction support, and download media.
  • Network state: used to check whether a connection appears available.
  • Notifications: used for foreground download progress and completion/failure notifications.
  • Foreground service: required by Android so downloads can continue while the app is in the background.
  • Storage on older Android versions: used only where required to save files to Downloads.
  • Advertising ID: used by Google AdMob where available for advertising, fraud prevention, frequency capping, and measurement.

Cookies and WebView Login

Some sites require a signed-in browser session before a non-DRM video can be accessed. AnyDown gives you explicit tools to provide that session only when you choose to do so.

Cookie Options

  • You can manually import a cookies.txt file.
  • AnyDown can auto-detect Downloads/AnyDown/cookies.txt if you place a file there.
  • You can sign in through AnyDown's in-app WebView browser and save cookies from that AnyDown WebView session.
  • You can turn account-cookie usage on or off in Platform Support Settings.
  • You can clear imported/saved cookies from Platform Support Settings.

Cookies can act like login tokens. Only import or save cookies for accounts you control, and clear them when you no longer want AnyDown to use them. AnyDown does not extract cookies from other apps.

DRM and Protected Content

AnyDown does not bypass DRM. If a video appears to be DRM protected, AnyDown attempts to stop retries and show a clear message: "This video is DRM protected and cannot be downloaded by AnyDown."

Retention and Deletion

  • You can delete downloaded files from the Downloaded Videos view.
  • You can clear saved cookies from Platform Support Settings.
  • You can uninstall the app to remove its private app data from your device.
